CENTREVILLE – We are learning some details about a pursuit that happened last week.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department stopped a vehicle at 2 PM Friday in downtown Centreville driven by an 18 year old Burr Oak man. The deputy smelled burnt marijuana and further learned the driver was wanted on a felony warrant for First Degree Home Invasion.

The man refused to comply with the deputy's commands and drove away from the scene. The officer pursued the man north on Covered Bridge Road, where the suspect failed to make a right turn onto Schweitzer Road, and struck a tree.

The man was taken to Three Rivers Health for treatment of non life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and airbags in the vehicle did deploy.

Deputies were assisted by the Three Rivers Police Department, the Centreville Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
