NE Indiana Jobless Rates Down From March To April

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Jobless rates around NE Indiana have gone down from March to April.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the largest drop was in Steuben County which went down eight-tenths of a percent, from 3.7 to 2.9 percent.

LaGrange County saw a decrease of six-tenths of percent, going from 2.9 percent in March to 2.3 percent in April.

Noble County dropped from a March unemployment figure of 4.1 percent to 3.4 percent in April, which is a decrease of seven-tenths of a percent. DeKalb County saw a decrease of six-tenths of a percent, from 3.6 percent to an even 3 percent. Elkhart County dropped a half a percent, from 3.5 in March to an even 3 percent in April.

Some area cities also saw a decrease in unemployment. Elkhart saw a drop of one full percent, from 4.9 in March to 3.9 percent in April. Goshen went down four-tenths of a percent, from 3.3 to 2.9 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate in Indiana remained the same from March to April at 3.9 percent. That's below the national jobless rate for April which is 6.1 percent.
