(INDIANAPOLIS) – There was no change in Indiana's unemployment rate from June to July.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the State's unemployment rate stayed at 4.1 percent. Indiana's labor force had a net decrease of 1,740 over the previous month. This was a result of a decrease of 630 unemployed residents and a decrease of 1,110 employed residents.

Private sector employment has increased by 96,600 over the year and increased by 17,100 over the previous month. The monthly increase is primarily due to gains in Manufacturing (4,800); Trade, Transportation and Utilities (4,500) and Private Educational and Health Services (2,800). Losses were recorded in Financial Activities (1,600).

Indiana's total labor force, which includes both Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, stands at 3.35 million.

The State's 4.1 percent unemployment rate is below the national rate for July is 5.4 percent.
