(MIDDLEBURY) – One person was injured in a two vehicle crash just west of Middlebury.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says 80 year old Roger Eby of Middlebury was driving east on County Road 18 near County Road 23 at 3:30 PM Monday. A second vehicle, driven by 56 year old Mary Muniz of Goshen, was stopped on the side of the road and partially in the roadway.

Deputies say Eby failed to adjust his speed and struck the rear of the Muniz vehicle. Muniz was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with back, leg, neck and chest injuries.

Eby was not injured, but was given a citation for failure to adjust his speed to avoid a crash.
