(LAGRANGE) – One of the victims in a two vehicle crash in LaGrange has died from their injuries.

The Indiana State Police say that 87 year old Barbara Ebert of LaGrange died Sunday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

On March 8, LaGrange County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Emerlander and his K-9 partner were driving north on Detroit Street near the Dollar General Store. A vehicle, driven by 80 year old Lillian Jagoda of LaGrange, pulled out of the Dollar General and into the path of Emerlander’s squad car and the two collided. Emerlander went through a parking lot and then struck a tree.

Emerlander was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital and then transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He suffered several broken ribs and a head contusion.

His K-9 partner was taken to a local veterinarian.

Jagoda and Ebert were also taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. All three individuals were wearing their seatbelts and air bags in the vehicles did activate.
