Six People Injured In Monday Toll Road Crash

(ORLAND) – Six people were injured in a two vehicle crash near the 136 Mile Marker on the Indiana Toll Road.

Indiana State Police say 37 year old Samuel Afagbedzi of Maumee, Ohio was traveling west at 4:45 PM Monday and may have fell asleep while driving. His vehicle went off the road, into the grass median and entered the eastbound lanes, where he crashed head on into a car, driven by 58 year old Gary Kohl of Mentor, Ohio.

Kohl’s car then went off the road and into a ditch were it caught fire.

Afagbedzi had a passenger in his vehicle and Kohl had three passengers.

Two individuals were bleeding severely, one from a leg wound and one from an injury to their arm. Steuben County EMS arrived and provided first aid at the scene. All six individuals were flown by Parkview Samaritan and Lutheran Air helicopters to hospitals in Fort Wayne.

Also assisting at the scene were the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, and the Orland Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation.
