February Unemployment Rate Down Slightly In Michigan

(LANSING) – Michigan’s February unemployment rate went down slightly from January.

Information released by the Michigan Center For Data And Analytics shows the State’s unemployment rate dropped from an even 4% to 3.9%. Employment in Michigan went up by 2,000 while the unemployment was reduced by 4,000 over the month.

Wayne Roarke, Labor Market Information Director for Michigan’s Center For Data And Analytics, says the State’s unemployment rate and labor force levels remained relatively stable in February. He says payroll jobs showed significant gains over January.

The largest growth was seen in Private Education and Health Services (+1.3%) and Construction (+1%).

The National jobless rate went up two-tenths of a percent and equaled Michigan’s February rate of 3.9%.
