(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a person being hit by two vehicles.

Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says deputies were called just after 5:30 AM Wednesday to U.S. 131 near Wilbur Road. Once one scene, the Three Rivers and Fabius Fire Departments provided medical attention to a 39 year old man. He was conscious and was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital to receive further medical treatment.

Deputies interviewed the motorists in the two vehicles that struck the man. They both said they were in the southbound lanes of U.S. 131 when they hit the man. One of the drivers told officers the man jumped in front of his automobile.

Neither of the drivers was injured, and both were wearing their seatbelts.

The matter is still under investigation.
