(ANGOLA) - Steuben County Commissioners discussed but did not take action on Monday morning concerning 2015 county funding for the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation as they are hoping to make some kind of decision before work on next years budget gets underway. There has been a recent dust up over the issue of the E.D.C. Board holding meetings behind closed doors. The E.D.C. Board has been having closed meetings for the last few years in order to discuss prospective businesses coming to Steuben County in private. Commissioners have threatened to withhold funding unless a portion of the E.D.C. meetings are open. Commission Chair Ron Smith said he chaired a meeting of mayors and commissioners last week. He said some counties give a percentage of their EDIT funds to E.D.C.'s and it's something Steuben County will have to look at when it's time to put together the 2015 budget. While open meetings is still an issue, Smith understood where the E.D.C. was coming from. He said, "there is no malice on their part, none, in doing that." In other business, the Commissioners approved an updated Snow Emergency Ordinance which uses the color system of yellow, orange and red as recommended by the state.
