(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a bill authored by State Senator Sue Glick into law on Tuesday which will offer academic and career guidance to veterans who are enrolled in an Indiana college school of education.
The Republican from LaGrange had her bill backed by Democratic State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz. The bill is designed to encourage veterans to get into the teaching profession.
Senate Bill 331 would also offer in-state tuition to out-of-state veterans who apply and get accepted into the program. Glick says it would work in conjunction with the state's Combat to College Program which was established last year.
It was sponsored in the House by Republican State Representative Dennis Zent of Angola.
