Sturgis Bank & Trust To Remodel Building
Tuesday Apr 01, 2014 7:44pm
Sturgis, MI

(STURGIS) – A downtown Sturgis business is going to continue with a remodeling and revitalization project that it started a few years
ago.

Sturgis Bank & Trust purchased the building right next to it's downtown Sturgis location to house Oakleaf Financial Services. In addtion to expanding their business, Sturgis Bank & Trust also spent time to make the building's exterior look as close to the original design as possible.

Now, Sturgis Bank & Trust President Eric Eishen says the bank has purchased the remaining buildings on the block with the same plan as they had several years ago, to help revitalize the downtown. ...... {LISTEN}.

Just like their first project, Eishen says they want these buildings to look as they did when they were first constructed, which will hopefully encourage other downtown businesses to do the same thing. ...... {LISTEN}.

Eishen says another reason for undertaking this project is due to the Sturgis 2022 initiative which calls for a vibrant and active downtown.

Eishen says he's not sure how long the remodeling project will take. Until they get the tin off the building, he says there's no way to know how much damange has been done to the building.

Eishen says in addition to remodeling the street level areas, there's also been talk of possibly remodeling the upper floors into offices or possibly studio apartments.
