(ANGOLA) - A familiar name is seeking to become the next Steuben County Sheriff.

Current Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Meeks officially filed his paperwork Wednesday morning to run for Steuben County Sheriff, becoming the first candidate in line to submit his paperwork as filing opened.

In a media release, Meeks says his early filing reflects both his preparedness and his eagerness to continue taking his campaign directly to the voters of Steuben County.

Meeks says he's proud to officially file and take this next step. He says this campaign has always been about showing up, listening, and working hard for the people of Steuben County, and he's excited to keep that momentum going.

A lifelong public servant and constitutional conservative, Meeks has built his campaign around accountability, community engagement, and a commitment to upholding the law while treating every resident with fairness and respect. Since launching his campaign, he has spent months meeting voters face to face, hearing their concerns, and discussing his vision for the future of the Sheriff's Office.

Meeks will continue an active campaign schedule in the weeks ahead, focused on community outreach, local events, and conversations with Steuben County residents across the county.
