(STURGIS) - The Sturgis Board of Education has approved a resolution to allow for a bond election to be brought to the public.

During a recent meeting, the Board was presented with the resolution that would approve the ballot language which voters will be asked to cast a vote on during the May 5 election.

The proposal is asking to approve $98.4 million to be issued in two series.

Finance Director Ray Sterling shares the ballot language, saying that it will ask for the bonds to be used for erecting and updating school buildings, facilities and additions to school buildings and facilities; including school security improvements; equipping and re-equipping along with furnishing and re-furnishing school buildings and facilities; acquiring and installing instructional technology; and preparing, developing, improving and equipping athletic fields, playgrounds, structures, facilities and sites. The Board unanimously approved the resolution. Sterling says it will be sent to the County Clerk's Office and to the State of Michigan.
