Veteran Local Broadcaster Arrested On Assault Charge

(COLDWATER) - A longtime voice in local radio is facing a misdemeanor charge.

Coldwater Police say they arrested 69 year old Jim Measel on a charge of simple assault and battery. No details on the matter have been released.

Under Michigan law, the charge is a misdemeanor which can involve attempted harm, unwanted physical contact, or placing someone in fear of injury. It carries a possible penalty of a $500 fine and up to 93 days in jail.

Measel has spent over 30 years in radio in both Michigan and Indiana. He served for several years as News Director for Swick Broadcasting's WLKI FM in Angola, in addition to working in Lansing and with the Michigan Radio Network.

Measel recently stepped down from full time duties as News Director to be a part-time contributor for a Coldwater radio station.
