(INDIANPOLIS) - The Indiana State Police are investigating multiple swatting incidents that have recently targeted members of the Indiana General Assembly.

Swatting occurs when someone deliberately reports a fake emergency--by phone, email, or other communication--in order to trigger a large law enforcement response to a specific location. ISP warns the practice is not only illegal but extremely dangerous for everyone involved. Troopers are working alongside local, county, and federal agencies to track down those responsible for what they call reckless and criminal acts. The agency says it intends to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Indiana State Police at iifc@iifc.in.gov
