(STURGIS) - The City of Sturgis will start their spring brush and leaf pickup schedule on April 6.

Department of Public Service crews will start on the north side of the City and work their way south. Weather conditions and varying amounts of brush make it difficult to adhere to a strict schedule, therefore it is necessary to have your materials on the terrace ready for pickup and crews will get to them as quickly as possible.

Crews will only be making one pass through the City.

DPS officials are asking for citizens to have their materials neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions such as power poles, guy wires, sign posts and valve boxes. There will be a limit of one truck load of material per parcel collected and hauled away.

Limbs, branches or brush material larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 8 feet in length will not be collected. In addition, no grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction materials will be collected.

The Sturgis Compost Site will open for the 2026 season on Tuesday April 7. From April through October, hours for the Compost Site will be Tuesday and Thursday12 PM to 7:30 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM.
