(QUINCY) - Quincy School District voters turned down a bond proposal on Tuesday.
Voters cast 1,076 No votes to 450 Yes votes on the proposal, which was asking for $60 million.
If it has been approved, the bond would have been used to support improvements, additions and new facilities in the District. That includes safety and security enhancements along with ADA accessible and code compliance improvements at all the buildings.
In addition, there would be the demolition of portions of the old Middle School Wing. For Quincy High School-Middle School there is a proposed two story classroom addition; remodeling the existing Middle School gym into a cafetorium; a new High School auxiliary gym, new locker room facilities and a new parking lot.
A new bus garage would also be part of the projects for the district.
