(COLDWATER) - The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency wants to remind the public that it's not too late to get vaccinated for the upcoming flu season.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began recognizing National Influenza Vaccination Week in 2025 as a way to highlight the importance of continuing flu vaccination throughout the holiday season and beyond.
Heidi Hazel, Personal Health and Disease Prevention Director for the CHA says flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection against infection. Hazel says every flu season is different and influenza infection can affect people differently. With the approaching holidays, she says everyone should consider vaccination to protect yourself and your family members, who may be at a higher risk.
The CHA will be holding flu vaccine clinics from 9 AM until 3 PM next week. On Tuesday December 2, vaccines will be given in Three Rivers, 1110 Hill Street. To set up an appointment, you can call 269-273-2161 extension 298. On Wednesday December 3 you can get your vaccination in Sturgis at 1555 East Chicago Road. You can call 269-273-2161 extension 298 to make an appointment.
