(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana State Senator Mike Bohacek is preparing legislation to be introduced that could legalize medical marijuana in Indiana.
Bohacek says the legislation would be introduced in 2027. It would include establishing medical parameters, along with establishing tax and distribution policy.
In a media statement Bohacek says this legislation was inspired by the Federal re-classification of state-licensed medical marijuana as a less-dangerous Schedule III substance. He also says part of the inspiration was Governor Mike Braun's recent statements that he would be open to medical marijuana discussions following the re-classification.
The legislation would also update Indiana impairment laws. This would include defining the blood concentration that would define impairment, as well as create training for law enforcement.
