(COLDWATER) - Branch County has found an interim Prosecuting Attorney.
Branch County Circuit Court has announced that former Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz has been appointed as Interim Branch County Prosecutor. He takes over for Zachery Stempien who was appointed to be Circuit Court Judge.
Fitz announced earlier this month that he was resigning as Cass County Prosecutor to pursue other career opportunities. He has over 40 years of experience, including 23 years as an elected Prosector. A former President of the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, Fitz is widely known for his work on controlled substance task forces.
Circuit Court officials say they received applications from several individuals who possessed the qualifications necessary to serve in this role.
The position of Branch County Prosecutor will be decided in the November General Election.
