New Record Set During 2026 Radiothon

(STURGIS) - A new record for giving was set Thursday during the 2026 WBET Radiothon to benefit the St. Joseph County United Way.

After 18 hours of celebrity DJ teams took the air waives to raise money for the United Way, Executive Director Kelly Hostetler announced how much was raised during the day. The previous record of $183,000 set in 2025 was eclipsed in 2026 with a new all time total of $198,535. (LISTEN ABOVE).

Hostetler also announced the two celebrity DJ teams that raised the most money on the day. In the Civic Division, St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence and Undersheriff David Northrop raised $49,870. In the Manufacturing Division, Morgan Olson raised $40,839.

In addition, other prizes were awarded. Amiah Belote was the winner of the 50-50 raffle, collecting $560. Joe Wynes won the golf cart. The winner of the grill from the Sturgis Wal Mart was Rick Shaffer, the bike from Walther Farms went to Brendan Sprowls and a 55 inch TV courtesy of Tim George was won by Tom Kool.

All of the money raised stays in St. Joseph County.
