(FORT WAYNE) - WANE-TV reports that Indiana Republican Party Chair and Fort Wayne City Clerk Lana Keesling was the victim of two swatting attempts at her home last week, becoming the latest political figure threatened amid the heated congressional redistricting battle at the Statehouse.

Keesling has been an outspoken supporter of the mid-decade redraw of Indiana's nine congressional districts, calling the overhaul an "absolute necessity."

She revealed on Facebook Sunday night that the swatting attempts happened on Wednesday. Keesling said she's faced threats throughout her decade in public service, but this incident crossed a line by targeting her home and family. Swatting involves making a fake emergency call to trigger an armed police response -- a dangerous crime that has resulted in injuries and deaths across the country. Just last week, Keesling joined Indiana Democratic Party Chair Karen Tallian in a bipartisan statement condemning political threats and swatting attempts, saying such intimidation has no place in Indiana.
