(FORT WAYNE) - Indiana Republicans have selected Max Engling as their nominee for Secretary of State, defeating incumbent Diego Morales at the party's state convention.

Republican delegates from all 92 Indiana counties gathered at the Grand Wayne Convention Center over the weekend to nominate candidates for statewide offices, including Secretary of State, Treasurer of State and State Comptroller.

Engling, a senior adviser to U.S. Senator Jim Banks, entered the race in late May. He defeated Morales and two other challengers, Jamie Reitenour and David Shelton, to secure the nomination.

Delegates also confirmed Daniel Elliott as Treasurer of State and incumbent Elise Nieshalla as State Comptroller. Both races were uncontested.

Engling will face Democratic nominee Beau Bayh and Libertarian nominee Lauri Shillings in Indiana's general election on November 3. Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is also seeking ballot access as an independent candidate.
