(COLON) - The aroma of slow-smoked ribs, sizzling chicken wings, and handcrafted beef sliders will once again fill downtown Colon on Saturday.
The 7th Annual Magic City Grill Fest will bring together barbecue enthusiasts, families, and competitive grill teams from across Michigan and beyond. The event is being hosted by the Colon American Legion, who will receive the proceeds from the event, which will be held at 123 East State Street.
Event Organizer Tim Taylor says there have been some changes over the years, but the one constant has been the grilling teams must either use wood or charcoal to make their food.
Taylor says this year there will be three rounds of competition, pork ribs, chicken and beef sliders.
Taylor says the winners of the slider round will receive something special. They will get an entry to the World Food Championship at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, October 15-18, 2026.
The community can purchase Taster's Tickets for $20 that will allow them to taste samples from all the teams.
There will also be a corn hole tournament from 12 PM to 4 PM. The cost is $20 per person.
At 7 PM there will be a post party at the Colon American Legion. The community is welcome to attend.
