(LANSING) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Monday local agencies across Michigan are seeing their first payments from the Neighborhood Roads Fund.
It's part of the new long-term road funding plan aimed at rebuilding Michigan's state and local roads, bridges and transit with a nearly $2 billion annual investment, along with future adjustments designed to keep pace with Michigan's evolving infrastructure needs.
Michigan counties will receive funds that will be spent in four different areas: County Primary, County Local, Urban Primary and Urban Local roads.
St. Joseph County will receive $821,981.53. Cass County is getting $846,189.67, while Branch County will get $734,412.48. Hillsdale County is going to get $762,585.01.
Cities and Villages will also receive funds for Major Street and Local Street Projects. In St. Joseph County, Sturgis getting $128,107.73. Three Rivers will receive $93,012.20; White Pigeon gets $20, 256.69 while Mendon is receiving $13,705.68. Constantine gets $27,010.11; Colon $16,934.16; Centreville $16,728.91 and Burr Oak $12,040.06.
In Branch County, the City of Coldwater is receiving $156,859.05. Bronson is getting $29,383.22; Quincy $19,511.52 and Union City $22,593.95.
In Cass County, Cassopolis will be getting $24,831.33; Dowagiac $74,399.93; Edwardsburg $14,177.01; Marcellus $12,503.22 and Vandalia $6,109.62.
