(STURGIS) - The City wide brush pickup will begin next week in Sturgis.

Department of Public Service crews will start on Monday October 5 on the north side of the City and work their way south. This will be the final brush pickup for 2026.

Weather conditions and varying amounts of brush make it difficult to adhere to a strict schedule, therefore it is necessary to have your materials ready for pickup and crews will get to them as quickly as possible. Crews will only be making one pass through the North and South sides of the City.

The rules for brush pickup are: Materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace clear of all obstructions such as power poles, guy wires, signposts, valve boxes, fire hydrants, and similar items. If materials are not properly placed, crews will NOT pick them up.

A limit of one truck load of material per parcel will be collected and hauled away. • Limbs, branches, or brush material larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 8 feet will NOT be collected. No grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction materials will be collected.

The City of Sturgis currently provides brush pickup to its residents the first full week of April and October. If you miss this brush pickup, you can take your brush to the Compost Site on Fawn River Rd.

The Compost Site hours are April through October: Tuesday and Thursday from 12 PM to 7:30 PM; Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM.

The November hours for the Compost Site are: Tuesday and Thursday 12 PM to 6 PM; Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM.

The Compost Site will close for the season at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 24.

If you have any questions concerning brush pickup or the Compost Site, you can call the City of Sturgis Department of Public Services at 269-651-2879.
