(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana's unemployment rate when up slightly during the month of September.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the statewide unemployment went up from 3.3% in August to 3.4% in September.
Indiana's labor force participation rate for September was 63.1%, compared to the national rate of 61.8%. This is the percentage of Hoosiers 16 and older that are either working or actively looking for work.
Indiana's total employment is 3,490,597. In addition September 2026 total private employment is 2,848,000, which is an increase of 3,200 since August.
Industries that experienced job increases during September include: Private Educational & Health Services (+3,700); Manufacturing (+3,500) and All Other (+400).
