Busy year for road projects in Sturgis
By: Mike Stiles - Monday, January 27, 2020

STURGIS – More road projects will be happening around Sturgis in 2020.

City Manager Mike Hughes talked about the road work that happened in 2019 and what is planned for the new year.

Hughes says one of the projects will be Pleasant Street in the downtown area. It will be a full brick restoration. He says they were able to get a grant from the Michigan Department Of Transportation for almost $500,000.

The City is looking at doing some modifications to the parking areas along Pleasant Street so that they could be used for other events that happen in the downtown area.

Hughes says a second big road project will be happening on the north side of Sturgis. Jerolene Street will have a new water main installed. There will also be some reconstruction and refurbishing of the road from Nottawa to Lakeview.

Hughes says they will keep citizens updated on what is going on with both of these projects.
