(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – A two county pursuit ended with the detention of five individuals.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach says at 1:46 AM Thursday deputies responded to a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Howard Township. The Niles Police Department started the pursuit, which led into Cass County. It ended after the vehicle ran over some stop sticks in the 58,000 block of Dailey Road.

The occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot. Deputies were able to locate and detain five suspects. While on scene, deputies recovered stolen property and were able to confirm the vehicle was stolen.

Roach says because several of the suspects are juveniles, none of their names will be released.

Assisting agencies included the Dowagiac Police Department, the Pokagon Tribal Police Department and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident is still being investigated. If anyone has information on this case, they are asked to call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 1-800-426-9328.
