(WAYNE TOWNSHIP) – A Dowagiac man was injured in an accident in Cass County's Wayne Township.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says 29 year old Kasey Proshwitz of Dowagiac was driving his motorcycle east on Marcellus Highway just before 8 AM Wednesday, and approaching the intersection of Twin Lakes Road.

55 year old Tony Danneffel of Dowagiac was traveling south on Twin Lakes Road and started to enter the intersection. He told deputies that Proshwitz was in a blind spot and he never saw him.

Proshwitz moved to avoid Danneffel and lost control of his motorcycle, laying it down in the intersection.

Proshwitz was taken to Ascension Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Also assisting at the scene were the Dowagiac Police and Fire Departments and Pride Care Ambulance.
