County Commission Holds Public Hearing CDBG Funding

(CENTREVILLE) – St. Joseph County is in the process of applying for funding to help assist low to moderate income residents in repairing their homes.

During Tuesday’s Executive Committee meeting, the St. Joseph County Commission held a public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant Funding. County Finance Director Angie Steinman says they are in the process of applying for the CDBG Grant in the amount of $254,238. She explains how the money would be used if the County receives the grant. .

The loans would be on a first come, first serve basis for homeowners in the Villages of Centreville, White Pigeon, Colon and Burr Oak, along within the boundary lines of Flowerfield, Sherman, Park, Mendon, Leonidas, Fabius, Lockport, Nottawa, Colon, Constantine, Florence, Burr Oak, Mottville, White Pigeon, Sturgis and Fawn River Townships.

Steinman says the County should know in about a month if they are receiving the grant. If they receive the grant, it would be handled and administered by a third party organization.
