(COLON) – Wednesday’s storms didn’t stop the Colon Board of Education from interviewing two candidates for the position of Colon Superintendent.

The Board held interviews in the Colon High School Cafeteria with Mr. Richard Hilderley and Mrs. Amanda PaGan. They were the two individuals the Board chose to interview out of the seven candidates who applied for the position.

Hilderley previously served as Superintendent with Bronson Community Schools for two years, before returning to Tecumseh Schools where he was hired as Superintendent. PaGan has been a teacher in the Colon School District in the past, and currently is employed by the Coloma Community Schools.

Both individuals were asked ten questions by the Board. One of the questions was How would you handle public concerns?. Hilderley was the first candidate to be interviewed and shares his answer with the Board. ...... {LISTEN}.

PaGan gives her answer. ...... {LISTEN}.

After hearing from the audience members, the Board discussed both candidates, with the majority favoring Hilderley.

The Board decided to hold a community open house June 23 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, to allow citizens to come in and meet Hilderley. The Board will hold a special meeting on June 25 at 6 PM to decide if they want to bring him back for a second round interview, offer him the position, or start the search process all over again.
