(ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP) – Minor injuries were reported in a school bus accident in Algansee Township.

Branch County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says at approximately 7 AM Wednesday, Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident involving a school bus near the intersection of Central Road and Bennett Road in Algansee Township.

Authorities determined that the school bus, operated by a driver for Pansophia Academy, was traveling east on Central Road, when the driver attempted to provide additional space for oncoming traffic. As a result, the bus left the roadway, went into a ditch and collided with a guardrail.

At the time of the incident, the bus was occupied by the driver and four students. They were all evaluated and treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance personnel and the Quincy Fire Department.

Also assisting at the scene were the Quincy Police Department, and the Michigan State Police.

The incident is still under investigation.
